Music

We have a great team of musicians again this year! Steve Agrisano, Stefanie Harper, and Emily Schmidt are working as a team to coordinate the music for the liturgies. Steve is serving as the primary songleader, Emily is directing the choir, and Stefanie is doing much of the organizational, behind the scenes work. All three of them are participating as musicians.

Steve, as usual, will tell uplifting, meaningful stories and sing with the praise band throughout the conference. Saturday afternoon, we will sing the Divine Mercy Chaplet. And that evening, at approximately 8 pm, we will hold the Eucharistic Procession, Adoration and Benediction, with moments of song, praise, prayer and silence.

COMMUNION: IN EVERY AGE

Long before the mountains came to be

and the land and sea and stars of the night,

through the endless seasons of all time,

you have always been,

you will always be.

Refrain:

In ev’ry age, O God, you have been our refuge.

In ev’ry age, O God, you have been our hope.

Verse 2

Destiny is cast, and at your silent word

we return to dust and scatter to the wind.

A thousand years are like a single moment gone,

as the light that fades

at the end of day.

Refrain:

In ev’ry age, O God, you have been our refuge.

In ev’ry age, O God, you have been our hope.

Verse 3

Teach us to make use of the time we have.

Teach us to be patient even as we wait.

Teach us to embrace our ev’ry joy and pain.

To sleep peacefully,

and to rise up strong.

Refrain:

In ev’ry age, O God, you have been our refuge.

In ev’ry age, O God, you have been our hope.

You have been our refuge

You have been our hope.

Based on Psalm 90:1–4, 12 Janèt Sullivan Whitaker

COMMUNION: MIRACLE OF GRACE

Verse 1:

Miracle of grace, mystery of faith,

Calling us to venture to the deep.

Though our senses fail, your graces still prevail,

And we become the love that we receive.

Refrain:

Bread of life, bread of life.

Those who eat this bread shall live and never die.

Bread of life, bread of life.

Your true presence in this holy sacrifice.

Bread of life.

Verse 2:

Unworthy though we are, you feed the hungry heart

With bread come down from heaven above.

And like a grain of wheat, we fall down at your feet,

Dying here with you. Oh, let us rise!

Refrain:

Bread of life, bread of life.

Those who eat this bread shall live and never die.

Bread of life, bread of life.

Your true presence in this holy sacrifice.

Bread of life, bread of life, bread of life.

Verse 3:

Your faithfulness revealed in this covenant you’ve sealed

With your very body and your blood.

Come, claim your bride again with love that cannot end,

For what God joins no one can divide.

Refrain:

Bread of life, bread of life.

Those who eat this bread shall live and never die.

Bread of life, bread of life.

Your true presence in this holy sacrifice.

Bread of life, bread of life, bread of life

CLOSING: A RIGHTFUL PLACE

Verse 1:

Let us live our lives so that all might see

That our hearts are restless till they rest in thee.

Let us build your kingdom in truth and grace

So that all might know they have a rightful place.

Beauty ever ancient and new,

Breaking through our deafness so we hear you.

Shattering the darkness of night,

A new dawn is rising to bring your light

To all the world.

Refrain:

Let us live our lives so that all might see

That our hearts are restless till they rest in thee.

Let us build your kingdom in truth and grace

So that all might know they have a rightful place.

Verse 2:

To gather in your presence we came

To be one in spirit, in truth and name;

Strengthened by the body of Christ,

Taking up the call now to share your light

With all the world.

Refrain:

Let us live our lives so that all might see

That our hearts are restless till they rest in thee.

Let us build your kingdom in truth and grace

So that all might know they have a rightful place.

OPENING: ALL CREATURES OF OUR GOD AND KING

All creatures of our God and King,

Lift up your voice and with us sing:

Alleluia! Alleluia!

O burning sun with golden beam

And silver moon with softer gleam:

Oh, praise God! Oh, praise God!

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

O rushing wind and breezes soft,

O clouds that ride the winds aloft:

Alleluia! Alleluia!

O rising morn, in praise rejoice,

O lights of evening, find a voice.

Oh, praise God! Oh, praise God!

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

O flowing waters, pure and clear,

Make music for your Lord to hear.

Alleluia! Alleluia!

O fire so masterful and bright,

Providing us with warmth and light,

Oh, praise God! Oh, praise God!

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Dear mother earth, who day by day

Unfolds rich blessings on our way,

Alleluia! Alleluia!

The fruits and flow’rs that verdant grow,

Let them God’s praise abundant show.

Oh, praise God! Oh, praise God!

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

O ev’ry one of tender heart,

Forgiving others, take your part,

Alleluia! Alleluia!

All you who pain and sorrow bear,

Praise God on whom you cast your care.

Oh, praise God! Oh, praise God!

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

And you, most kind and gentle death,

Waiting to hush our final breath,

Alleluia! Alleluia!

You lead to heav’n the child of God,

Where Christ our Lord the way has trod.

Oh, praise God! Oh, praise God!

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Let all things their Creator bless,

And worship God in humbleness,

Alleluia! Alleluia!

Oh praise the Father, praise the Son,

And praise the Spirit, Three in One!

Oh, praise God! Oh, praise God!

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

OFFERTORY: MAKE YOUR HOME IN ME

1. Every fox, a den; every bird, a nest;

but the Son of Man has no place to rest.

Every heart, a man; every king, a throne;

but the Word Made Flesh, no earthly home.

Refrain

Your burden’s light and your yoke is easy.

Your name is love and your grace is free.

My heart was locked but you had the key.

Make your home in me,

make your home in me.

2. Lord, you come to me in your homelessness;

burning in your eyes, such a great distress.

Who will heal your wounds? Who will make your bed?

I will comfort you, I will share my bread.

Bridge

Where there is love, there is no fear.

So, make your home and residence here.

I’m so alive when you are near,

so, make your home in me.

COMMUNION: THE KING OF LOVE MY SHEPHARD IS

The King of love my Shepherd is,
Whose goodness fails me never:
I nothing lack if I am His
And He is mine forever.

Refrain:

How can my heart turn away,
Jesus I love you.
Jesus I love you.
You are my song and my strength,
Jesus I love you.

Where streams of living water flow
With gentle care He leads me,
And where the verdant pastures grow,
With heavenly food He feeds me.

Refrain:
How can my heart turn away,
Jesus I love you.
Jesus I love you.
You are my song and my strength,
Jesus I love you.

Perverse and foolish I have strayed,
But yet in love He sought me,
And on His shoulder gently laid,
And home, rejoicing, brought me.

Refrain:
How can my heart turn away,
Jesus I love you.
Jesus I love you.
You are my song and my strength,
Jesus I love you.

In death’s dark vale I fear no ill
With You, dear Lord, beside me;
Thy rod and staff my comfort still,
Your cross before to guide me.

Refrain:
How can my heart turn away,
Jesus I love you.
Jesus I love you.
You are my song and my strength,
Jesus I love you.

You spread a table in my sight;
Your saving grace bestowing;
And, oh, what joy and true delight,
From Your pure chalice flowing!

Refrain:
How can my heart turn away,
Jesus I love you.
Jesus I love you.
You are my song and my strength,
Jesus I love you.

And so through all the length of days
Your goodness never fails me;
Good Shepherd, may I sing Your praise
Within Your house forever.

CLOSING: O GOD BEYOND ALL PRAISING

O God beyond all praising,

 we worship you today

and sing the love amazing

that songs cannot repay;

for we can only wonder

at every gift you send,

at blessings without number

and mercies without end:

we lift our hearts before you

and wait upon your word,

we honor and adore you,

 our great and mighty Lord.

The flower of earthly splendor

in time must surely die,

its fragile bloom surrender

to you the Lord most high;

but hidden from all nature

the eternal seed is sown –

though small in mortal stature,

 to heaven’s garden grown:

for Christ the Man from heaven

from death has set us free,

and we through him are given

 the final victory!

Then hear, O gracious Savior,

 accept the love we bring,

that we who know your favor

 may serve you as our king;

and whether our tomorrows

be filled with good or ill,

we’ll triumph through our sorrows

and rise to bless you still:

to marvel at your beauty

and glory in your ways,

and make a joyful duty

our sacrifice of praise.

Gustav T. Holst, 1874-1934, arr. by Jeffrey Honore, b 1956, Lyrics by Michael Perry, vs 3 by Scott Rieker
